AACTFest 2017: Monologue Competition
Come perform, come support your fellow actors, come Speak the Speech at AACTFest 2017!
Anyone can enter the AACTFest 2017 Monologue Competition.
Registration for the Monologue Competition can be completed with your online registration or will be available during AACTFest at the AACTFest registration desk in the lobby of the Rochester Civic Theatre. Registration is limited, so early registration is recommended. There is a $20 entry fee.
Monologues must be memorized and should come from a published play by an established writer, or a writer who has submitted a new script to a playwriting competition or for publication. Present a piece of any dramatic or comedic material not to exceed two minutes. No props, costumes, or effects of any kind will be allowed. The festival adjudicator will select finalists from the preliminary rounds to perform in the Monologue Competition Finals. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Winner in each category will receive $100 prize
Participants will be assigned a preliminary round monologue slot on either Wednesday June 28th at 2:15 pm, Thursday, June 29th at 9:00 am or Friday, June 30th at 2:15 pm. Rounds will be based on participation and each round will result in finalists that will participate in the Monologue Competition final round on Saturday.
This is a unique opportunity to perform individually and receive feedback from an experienced acting teacher and adjudicator to sharpen skills and network with other artists.
Adjudicator Ron Cameron-Lewis
Ron is Professor Emeritus at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, Canada where he helped establish the Music Theatre program in 1972. He taught acting and directed productions at Sheridan College and a joint program with the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Sheridan graduates currently work throughout Canada, on Broadway, in the West End in London, and on international cruise ships. For AACT, he has worked as a theatre educator and adjudicator at State, Regional, National and International levels. He instructed adjudication training at AACTFest national festivals in Rochester, New York and Carmel, Indiana, plus many workshops at festivals around the USA. In 2016, Ron was re-elected to a second three-year term as a Member-at-Large on the AACT Board, serving on Educational, Adjudication, and International Committees.
