AACTFest 2017: Youth Leadership Conference
The AACT Youth Leadership Conference will focus on cultivating youth who aspire to be leaders in their communities. The conference is open to ages 14-18 and will consist of round-table discussions, youth activities, educational workshops, and enlightening sessions. The goal of this exciting conference is to instill confidence, knowledge, and team building skills in an exhilarating and stimulating experience.
Jennifer Hamilton will facilitate this conference. Jennifer served as the Education Director for Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy from 2002 to 2014. During her time there, she directed over 50 fully produced Youth and Theatre for Young Audiences productions, created curriculum for after school theatre classes, created and managed summer camps, and provided theatre-based outreach programming to area schools. She received her Masters Degree in Theatre from the University of Kansas in 2003 where she taught Improvisation, Introduction to Theatre, and directed for the University Theatre.
Jennifer has been an active member of AACT for many years. She facilitated the AACT Education Directors conference in Kansas City in 2008, presented a workshop at the national AACTFest in 2009, served on the Education and Workshops committees, contributed to Spotlight, and even enjoyed singing for the awards shows in 2009 and 2011. She is thrilled to see old friends and meet new ones at AACT 2017!
