Patty Duke Public Service Announcements

"Hello, I'm Patty Duke...."Actress Patty Duke speaks in support of community theatre on AACT’s five 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) for television.

Four of the spots are about supporting or participating in community theatre. The fifth spot speaks specifically to youth participation.

The spots are 20-29 seconds long. A local "tag" can be added to some of the spots to make 30 seconds. A tag is a graphic and/or audio - voiceover - announcement added to the end of the spot.

The PSAs can be customized with tags before they are shipped or tags can be added locally. TV stations often do tags for no charge when time is purchased, but typically don’t for PSAs. Still it doesn’t hurt to ask, especially if you have a supportive station in your community. Do be aware that tags cannot be removed. It may be better to make the tag generic, such as "Brought to you by Acme Theatre" and using the theatre logo or name in the graphic, rather than promoting a specific production.

Before ordering the PSAs check to see what format is needed by the local station(s). AACT can provide the spots on DVD, 3/4" tape, Mini DV, or Beta. All five spots will be on one disk or tape. Even if you have more than one station, unless they use different formats, you probably only need one copy of the PSAs. Stations will usually dub the spots and give you back the disk or tape. The spots can also be ordered on a CD for Web use only; these will not be broadcast-quality.
